Engineering projects often make use of heavy duty machineries to help with their tasks. These machineries can perform a wide range of tasks, such as lifting heavy or large objects, cutting through hard metallic surfaces, penetrating hard objects, etc. In this article, we will discuss the importance and utility of three such machineries: electric wire rope hoist, gantry crane and EOT crane.

Electric wire rope hoist

Electric wire rope hoist are extremely heavy duty electrically powered machines that are specifically used for lifting heavy objects that usually weigh more than a ton. These are predominantly used in construction sites or industrial sites where large scale building or developmental projects are carried out. It uses a wire rope hoist for lifting objects. The rope is made out of numerous metal fibres composes of mainly stainless steel. This makes the rope extremely strong and durable. The rope is manoeuvred around a drum that is operated by a powerful electric motor.

Gantry crane

Gantry cranes provide users with convenient and economical means to lift heavy objects. They are predominantly used in manufacturing and construction sites. Most gantry crane are equipped with wheels which makes it possible for users to move it anywhere they want. They can move objects anywhere between one and five tons. They are primarily of three types: namely, workstation gantry crane, rail mounted gantry crane and container crane or dockside gantry crane.  

EOT crane


EOT crane
is a device used for lifting heavy objects. It is equipped with a tower or derrick which is lowered to lift and carry the materials by using pulleys and cables. They can be monitored and controlled by a number of different methods like infra-red control, radio control or by using a built-in control system. The crane is connected to a motor-operated bridge trolley, and electromagnetic brakes are utilized to carry the heavy objects.
